About FinanceUtils
Free, data-driven financial tools for everyone
Our Mission
FinanceUtils was built on a simple belief: everyone deserves access to accurate, easy-to-understand financial tools — without paywalls, or subscriptions. We create free online calculators that help everyday people understand money, make sense of historical economic data, and plan for the future with confidence.
Whether you're a student learning about macroeconomics, a homeowner evaluating the real cost of a mortgage, or simply curious about what a dollar from the 1950s would be worth today, FinanceUtils gives you instant, reliable answers based on official data.
Our Data Sources
Accuracy matters. All our calculators are powered by data from trusted, authoritative sources:
- Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis — historical US inflation rates (CPI-based, 1913–2025)
- US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) — Consumer Price Index methodology and underlying price data
We update our data sets regularly to reflect the latest published figures and clearly disclose the source on every calculator page.
What We Offer
Our current suite of tools includes the Inflation Calculator, which lets you compare purchasing power across any two years from 1913 to 2025, and a Future Purchasing Power Calculator that projects how inflation will erode the value of money over time. We are actively developing additional calculators covering compound interest, debt payoff, mortgage amortization, and retirement savings.
Privacy & No Tracking
We respect your privacy. FinanceUtils does not require registration, does not collect personal information, and does not sell user data. All calculations happen entirely in your browser — your numbers never leave your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
